On Monday, PM Modi placed the foundation and made the initiative of first ‘Indian Institute of skills’ in India. PM Modi originated an exhibition on skill development for youth of UP. With this event, PM Modi inaugurated skill development initiatives for the young population of the country. It also includes Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) and Driver’s Training Institutes.
In coming 3 years, different industries will cast employments and train over 4 lakh youth. This is the result of a planned partnership with various industries. In order to stem new growth opportunities for the youth, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is planning to open a PMKK in every district in the country. During this event PM Modi announced the launch of 31 new PMKKs. While PM Modi visited Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education, that’s when The Indian Institute of Skills came into concept.
As per an official statement, “Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, headed by Rajiv Pratap Rudy, in partnership with the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore decided to open an institute first ever of its kind in the country, the institute is inspired by the Singapore model of training and would adopt various best practices from the country”.
Six such institutes will be opened all over the country. Apart from this, a Kaushal Pradarshini (skill exhibition) was inaugurated for the young UP population. Across different sectors, the exhibition also manifested state-of-the-art vocational training practices. General public will be welcomed here from December 19 to December 22.
These Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras are pioneer and iconic state-of-the-art skill development centres. They accommodate all advanced infrastructure to make available the skill enhancement training within the country. In Kanpur event, PM Modi also distributed certificates to leather industry workers, food vendors as a gesture to felicitation to the skilled candidates under the previous learning programme of the government. Under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna also, MSDE is planning to congratulate trained and skilled candidates.
