The ambitious Jaipur Smart Mission Ltd (JSML) has assimilated slew of projects under Smart City Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s project brainchild.
The Rajasthan government is taking crucial steps towards ensuring a healthy and a clean lifestyle for all city dwellers.
Public Bicycle Sharing
In order to curb the use of petrol run vehicles and reduce carbon levels in the city, the Smart city Mission is all set to introduce a public bicycle sharing (PBS) scheme. This initiative will ensure eco-friendly mode of transport usage.
How does this work?
The initiative comprises of time-framed rental schemes. The cycle service shall operate from any self-service station to either of the many bicycle stations in the city.
At least 20 cycles will be available at all stations. These cycles will be available for rent at the rate of Rs 10/hour. The cycle will be handed over to the user after detailed verification. This will monitor fraudulent activities.
Who is spearheading PBS project?
Greenolution, a Delhi-based firm has been roped in for this task. has A senior JSML officer said, “The project has been christened ‘Cyclo’. The scheme will provide pollution-free last-mile connectivity to the residents. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.10 crore.”
“We have proposed to start the scheme with 400 cycles spread over 20 cycle stations. The scheme will be implemented with 400 docks, which will later be expanded, based on the response it receives after becoming operational,” said a JSML official.
Figures for the Project
The whole project is estimated to fetch close to Rs 3 cr through advertising. The estimated cost of the docking station is approximately pegged at Rs 5.5 lakh.
PBS App to be launched soon
Sources also revealed that app will be developed. The app will soon be launched for the residents to book cycles.
“The system will be automated with the facility of payment through cash, credit cards or the Common Mobility Card,” added an official.
