Rising agitation after Anandpal’s death case finally came to a halt after Rajasthan police held a brief press conference to narrate the chronological sequence of happenings on June 24, the day when Anandpal was gunned down amidst cross-firing.

The conference was aimed at diffusing the common suspicion about Anandpal’s death. The whole incident was described with the help of photos and videos.

On June 24, police entered a residential plot situated at the Malasar village of Churu district. The police were suspicious that Anandpal was hiding in this property.

“The entire compound was surrounded from all directions. On one side, the Haryana police laid an outer cordon, while the Churu police were deployed on the other side. Other crews of the special operations group and emergency response team (ERT) commandos stood in the backside of the compound,” N R K Reddy, additional DGP (law and order) said.

Reddy added that the encounter was foolproof.

“The teams began searching rooms on the ground floor of the compound. Shravan Singh and his family were locked in a room when they protested,” said additional DGP (crime) Pankaj Singh.

While one team was on the ground floor, another team briskly climbed up the roof of the house where they spotted Anandpal in one of the two rooms. The cops suspected movement and fired a warning shot, to which Anandpal retaliated in the most expected manner.

The mega gangster broke heavy fire at the police, which was followed by a battle of gun shots.

“He was trying to rush to the back of the house where his car was parked. But when he looked down, he found the police were blocking the passage to stairs. It finally dawned on Anandpal that he was surrounded from all sides. So, he began indiscriminate firing to all sides while holed up in one room,” Singh said.

Anandpal then took out his AK-47 and made an attempt to flee away through the stairs. But to no avail. The police have sources in a mirror from the house and placed it on the roof. All his movement could be watched by the police.

“There were light bulbs on in three parts of the A on in three parts of the building which reflected Anandpal’s movements. The teams on the stairs spotted him rushing towards them. They opened fire killing Anandpal,” Singh said.
