Rajasthan’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital (Jaipur) is ready to serve the patients with better facilities and infrastructure. The patients face trouble in moving from Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics to Sawai Man Singh Hospital. To ease this, a 34-metre-long and 22-metre wide underpass connecting SMS hospital to its Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (ITO) on 26th July has been inaugurated. Vasundhara Raje Inaugurates SMS Hospital

It was inaugurated by Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje. This is one more remarkable step in the field of health sector of the state. Apart from SMS hospital underpass, a command centre, OPD counter and semi-ICUs with two beds in the hospital have been launched.

Details about underpass Vasundhara Raje Inaugurates SMS Hospital

This underpass connects the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics with Sawai Man Singh Hospital’s main building. It is 34-meter long underpass situated on Tonk road. It facilitates seamless connectivity between the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics with SMS Hospital. The underpass is constructed with a cost of Rs 15 crore. There are total 22 shops in the underpass. Out which 3 shops are auctioned for generating revenue.

Why is underpass needed?

Although ITO and SMS hospital are situated on the opposite side of Tonk road, the hospital face problems in shifting patients from SMS to ITO. With the help of this underpass, the need of ambulance will not be left. The patients can be shifted from one building to other through stretcher and wheel chair.

In fact, from long time attendants with patients demanded to connect SMS building with ITO. Hence, Rajasthan government had directed the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to act on it.

Changes to be seen in SMS hospital

There is surveillance centre established in the underpass and in ITO premises by Department of Information Technology and Communication. The waiting area has been facilitated with air-cooling facilities. A cafeteria has also been constructed. To make the underpass attractive, paintings have been placed there.

During this inauguration, the state health minister Kalicharan Saraf, ShriChand Kriplani and Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohara were present.  The inauguration was supposed to be done on 2 July but couldn’t happen. Now, it finally took place on 26th July.
