300 Crore Sewage Treatment Plan for Udaipur Prepared by the Government.

A 300-Crore sewage treatment plan for Udaipur city has been prepared by the government under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). This plan aims to transform the waste management system of the city and to clean the urban sewage out of the water bodies. amrut

The program is focused on cleansing and restoring the Ayad River, a seasonal water body that holds a lot of significance for the state. The pollutants in the river coming from urban sewage have deteriorated the water to such a level that it has become a matter of great concern for the authorities. amrut

AMRUT

Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is a government scheme launched by PM Narendra Modi in June 2015. It aims at establishing infrastructure so as to ensure adequate robust sewage networks and water supply to the cities. Rajasthan was the first state to submit State Annual Action Plan under AMRUT. amrut

Ayad River Restoration Plan

Earlier, Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria had asked Udaipur district administration to prepare the restoration plans. After this, the two-fold restoration program was proposed to revive the river to its original form. amrut

Initially, the vegetation will be cleared from the river bed. Later, garden, tracks, and footpaths will be created on the sides of the river. The river will be divided into different zones, each to be handled by different agencies that will work towards the restoration.
