The election commission has been using innovative techniques to motivate people to vote. Now, Rajasthan election commission has come up with an innovative idea. Department will use seven musical notes (Saat Sargam) of Indian Classical music to attract people.

During the week-long ‘Saragam Saptah’ from November 25 to December 1, each of the seven notes will represent one target group. These target groups include youth, women, rural and urban voters, differently-abled and others. The seven notes of Indian Classical music- Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa- have been divided into seven target groups. Each day of the one-week event will be dedicated to one target group.

This is how the innovative idea will work-

‘Sa’ will represent- shehari mat-daata (Urban voters), ‘Re’ will represent- rajya karmi (government voters), ‘Ga’ t represent- Grameen mat-daata (Rural voters), ‘Ma’ for Mahila (female voters), ‘Pa’ for Purush (Male voters), ‘Dha’ will represent- Divyang (Differently-abled voters) and ‘Ni’ for Navjuyak (young voters). Hence there will be seven target groups on whom there will be the focus during the one-week ‘Sargam Saptah’.

Further, each day will be dedicated to one target group. There will be seven songs and seven+ color themes dedicated to each group. The one-week program will be organized at every polling station across the state. There are 51,796 polling booths in total.

The theme of the program will be ‘Sargam of Democracy’. There will be candle-light marches in districts and villages, songs to motivate voters. The human chain, vote-procession and ‘rangolis’ drawing would be organized by women. Voter-marathon, tricycle rally for differently-abled and a bike rally would be organized over the week.

Considering the assembly election day on December 7, state election commission’s preparations are in full throttle.
