With the demand to increase the no. of head constables, Jaipur Police Headquarters has taken action. It has been decided that constable positions will be reduced now. In fact, 5981 Constable will be upgraded to head constables. To make this idea work, the Police Headquarters has made the proposal and sent it to the Home Department of the state. This is confirmed by ADG of Police Headquarters Rajiv Sharma. He also talked about the amendments to be made in promotion rules.
What will be new number after this shuffling? Rajasthan Police
On investigating the present strength of police constables, it is found out that there are 79,386 constables and 13,666 head constables. Well.. after getting from the Home Department the new strength will be 73,408 constables and no. of head constables will reach 19,847. Rajasthan Police

Why is there gap in filling the position of Head constable?
It was revealed in the investigation that most of the policemen get retired from posts of the constable without even being promoted. On considering the reasons this, it is observed that many policemen do not pass promotion examinations while many exceed the age criteria for taking exam. Rajasthan Police
To counter this situation, it has been decided that these people will be promoted to the post of head constables on the basis on seniority. This criterion will be used for filling 30% of posts. Rajasthan Police
