PM Narendra Modi & Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s war of words

The opposition has created a verbal uproar after India climbed up 30 points on the Ease of doing business Index. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said it ‘isn’t a victory’. Laughing at his statement, he was highly trolled by public and youth alike, given that climbing 30 steps in a go is a victory.

PM Modi was addressing the public at the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, where World Bank chief Kristalina Georgieva also presented a speech. Kristalina said, “Such an increase by 30 points is very rare.

In reforms what pays off is persistence, what we are seeing is an extraordinary achievement by India,” Ms Georgieva said. The opposition’s persistent critical acclaim over GST and demonetisation was also given heed by PM Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi termed the two reforms namely GST and demonetisation as ‘twin torpedos” which has got businesses and trader’s revenue sink by a large margin.

Addressing to the flak for GST implementation, PM Narendra Modi said the government is making required amendments after hearing to various traders who are facing difficulties. All points flagged by businesses are being addressed in a very positive manner, he added.

It is also important to note that India’s ease of doing business ranking does not take into account the impact of GST. The ranking is observed for a period till May end, however GST was implemented on July 1. PM Narendra Modi said GST and other reforms will potentially exacerbate India’s ease of doing business and it will reflect on the next ranking.

PM Modi is upfront, straight-forward and transparent. He receives a lot of flak but is ready to hear it for a better future of India. At a recent gathering, PM Narendra Modi spelled “I cannot mortgage the country’s future for my own present”.
