The Vasundhara Raje led Rajasthan Government seems to be making efforts that shall bring prosperity for Rajasthan and its farmers. 

India is an agricultural country with a major portion of the country’s economy being determined by the farm output that it produces. Talking about Rajasthan, the state has a large number of farmers, particularly in the rural areas. In order to ensure a good quality farm produce, the state government is responsible for coming up with farmer-friendly policies and amenities. Addressing the various issues pertaining to agriculture, many measures have been taken by Vasundhara Raje Government for Farmer Welfare

Mentioned below are some highlights and important announcements made by Vasundhara Raje Government for Farmer Welfare that have been made to ensure that the farmers’ concerns are addressed:

  • Considering the success of Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM) and its excitement among the farmers, another GRAM event is being organized in Udaipur.
  • In the year 2015-16, the lift policy has been successfully executed in Dungarpur district.
  • The detailed project report of Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) is in progress currently. Under this, the water of Chambal Basin will help in meeting the drinking water and irrigation needs of 13 districts of Rajasthan.
  • Recently, the state government formed a committee to waive off farmers loan amounting up to INR 50,000. It also organized a series of Kisan Chaupals in the village panchayats of all the districts. The aim was to inform the farmers about all the government schemes and policies.

  • In the year 2017-18, the grant rate for small and marginal farmers in DPAP/DDP areas has been increased from 60 to 65%, whereas for the general category, the rate has been revised from 45 to 50%.
  • Talking about the non-DPAP/DDP areas, the grant rate for small and marginal farmers has been increased from 45 to 50% while for those in the general category; the 35% rate has been extended to 40%.

  • For the Irrigation project, an investment of INR 700 Crores had been done in the year 2016-17 and now provision for INR 1000 Crores has been proposed for the year 2017-18.
  • In districts namely Baran, Jhalawar and Kota, arrangements have been made to provide irrigation facility to 2 lakh hectares of land and water supply to 820 villages. Under the Environmental Multipurpose Irrigation Project, necessary clearance has been attained and tenders have already been passed.
  • The long-term cooperative farmers’ loan given by the State Land Development Bank (SLDB) and Primary Land Development Bank (PLDB) has been subject to changes. In order to grant 5% rate of interests for these loans, the government has spent NR 10 Crores.
  • Keeping in view the important of water conservation, the government has made drip irrigation and sprinkler systems mandatory for all irrigation projects.

  • Giving priority to the common disputes, the government has implemented quick release of revenues at the local Gram Panchayat headquarters. This facility is currently benefiting many people residing in the rural areas of the state.
