Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana is an umbrella scheme which incorporates all ongoing schemes of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). The objective behind PMKSY is to provide better agricultural standards to the country. This scheme was started in 2016 for four years. This scheme is started to provide solutions to all the agricultural problems.
With the 14th Finance Commission cycle, the name of this central scheme has been changed in May 2017 for the period of 2016-20 coterminous. SAMPADA (Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) has been renamed as “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana”.

PMKSY is allocated with Rs. 6,000 crore. This scheme will generate benefit 20 lakh farmers. It is expected to leverage investment of Rs. 31,400 crore and generate 5,30,500 direct/ indirect employment by the year 2019-20.
Schemes under PMKSY
In this, schemes like Mega Food Parks, Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure and Integrated Cold Chain etc are included. It also includes new schemes like Creation of Backward and Forward Linkages, Infrastructure for Agro-processing Clusters, Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities.

It is a yojana that will enhance the growth of food processing sector in the country. Apart from this, farmers will get better process. This scheme will provide employment opportunities and increase the income of farmers. With this scheme, the wastage of agricultural produce will be reduced while the export of the processed foods will be enhanced.
