First Time in the Country: OBC data to be collected in Census 2021

    In a bid to get more accurate data, the government is planning to collect Other Backward Classes data during Census 2021. For the First time in the country, data on OBC would be collected so that the government can make policies accordingly. Officials from the Union Ministry of Home affairs release the news on Friday.

    The decision came during a review meeting on preparation for Census 2021. Home Minister Rajnath Singh discussed the roadmap for undertaking the census. According to the plan, the census will also help in reviewing the country’s progress in past decades. The OBC data will help in monitoring the government schemes and plans. Most importantly, data will help in planning future schemes.

    25 Lakh tech savvy enumerators to get accurate data

    This time the Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Office of the Register General and Census Commissioner to use technologies to get more accurate data. Improvements in design and technological tools were emphasized to ensure that the data is finalized within 3 years. At present, it takes 7 to 8 years to release complete data about the population.

    Maps and geo-referencing will be used at the time of the house listing. Nearly 25 Lakh tech savvy enumerators will be trained for the gigantic mission.
