Child labor is denying children of their dreams: Kailash Satyarthi on his Jaipur visit.

Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi who needs no introduction visited Jaipur and spewed a series of child-labor centric learnings. He requested CM Vasundhara Raje to deploy more funds for making the police department more “child-friendly”.

Jaipur Visit: A part of Bharat Yatra

As a part of his Bharat Yatra, Satyarthi reached Jaipur on Wednesday to deliver his speech themed ‘Surakshit Bachpan Surakshit Bharat’.

“Child labor is denying children of their dreams and there is no bigger crime in this world than killing their dreams”, said Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, while speaking at the Rajasthan Police Academy in Jaipur on Wednesday.

Satyarthi who is the son of a policeman urged the state officials to make police stations more child-friendly so they feel safe and comfortable with policemen.

Inclusion of Sex Education in School Curriculum

Alongside, he also advocated for the inclusion of age-appropriate sex education in the school curriculum.

He also shifted light onto the growing menace of increasing cases of rapes and sexual harassment. “There are reports of girls as young as two and three being raped. The perversion and savageness are only growing,” he said.

“The big challenge that lies ahead is fighting sexual abuse of children. It’s a moral epidemic that, of late, has gone deeper and wider,” Satyarthi added.

Bachpan Bachao Andolan: Making a difference

The Bachpan Bachao Andolan, led by Satyarthi is garnering humungous support from the Central government in introducing a module on sex education, Satyarthi added.

“Sex-education should not be seen as a taboo, given that the internet revolution has made everything accessible,” Satyarthi added in his speech at the Rajasthan Police Academy on Wednesday.

Earlier, Satyarthi had also addressed a session on ‘Increasing awareness of the dangers of sexual abuse’ at the DAV Centenary Public School in Jaipur.
