Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot took oath as the chief minister for the third time in Rajasthan today. State Congress chief Sachin Pilot was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. Governor Kalyan Singh administered the oath of office in Jaipur’s Albert Hall.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also joined the state Congress’ big day at the Albert Hall Museum. CM Raje tweeted after the swearing-in ceremony-

Swearing-in ceremonies are usually organized at the Raj Bhawan. However, the function in 2003 and 2013, when Vasundhara Raje took oath as chief minister, was held at Janpath outside the Rajasthan Assembly building. And this time, Albert Hall has been decided as the venue for the event.

During the swearing-in ceremony were Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh were also present. Among those present in Rajasthan are former prime minister H D Devegowda, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, LJD leader Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar, and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

Some odds for the oath ceremony

The Congress has also extended an invitation to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to attend the ceremonies. On the other hand, TMC supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and BSP Supremo Mayawati gave the event a miss. FYI, Mayawati has extended her support to the Congress after it fell short of a majority in Rajasthan and MP.

Kamal Nath will be sworn in as Madhya Pradesh CM at 1.30 pm today. In Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel will be administered the oath at 5 pm.  After the swearing-in ceremony, Congress biggies left for the MP to join Kamal Nath in his special moment.
