Rajasthan has been actively working for the welfare of the people. The proper nutrition and diet are the need of everyone. But, due to lack of money, many of them cannot afford proper meal. It is very well understood that an economy cannot grow where the people are not healthy. Considering this aspect, Rajasthan Government has launched Annapurna Rasoi Scheme to provide quality meal at cheap price to poor and needy.

Launched in 15th December, 2016 by Chief Minister of state Vasundhara Raje, Annapurna Rasoi Scheme aims at making food available at very low cost to poor and weaker section of society. Know more about the special features of this ambitious scheme.

Food at very low prices

It is a wonderful initiative by the government of Rajasthan. Under this scheme, the food is available through Annapurna Rasoi vans. These vans provide breakfast at ₹ 5 and meal (lunch or dinner) at ₹ 8. The breakfast plate is 350 gm and meal plate is 450gm. As government has rolled out multiple Annapurna Rasoi vans in districts of state, one can easily get food.

Inspired by Tamil Nadu Government’s Amma Unavagam

It is inspired by Tamil Nadu Government’s Amma Unavagam. Talking about Tamil Nadu Government’s Amma Unavagam, these are canteen launched by late Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa in the year 2003. These serve food at subsidized prices.

Menu of breakfast and meal

The best part about this scheme is that buyer gets different varieties. In breakfast, poha, sevaiya,idli sambhar, lapsi, khichdi, genhu khichda and etc are available. In lunch, dal chawal, choorma, makka ka khichda, roti ka upma, dal dhokli, chawal ka namkeen khichda and genhu ka meetha khichda etc are available. The menu of dinner and lunch are almost carries the same dishes. The dinner also has kadhi chawal, besan gutta pulao, biryani and bajre ka meetha khichda etc.

Scheme to provide nutrition to poor

This scheme is available for workers, rickshaw-pullers, handlers, employees, students, working women, elderly, helpless and needy persons of the society. With the help of scheme, nutrition can be given to all sections of the society.

 Annapurna Rasoi vans

In the first phase, the scheme was started in 12 districts namely Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Pratapgarh, Kota, Banswara etc. In the second phase, they have been rolled out in remaining districts. These vans are equipped with video-conferencing facility so that customer can provide feedback on the food quality to local government.
